Two weekends ago, while Colin was taking his nap, Sawyer got some Mommy alone time. He practiced sitting up by himself and played with Roscoe. He also tried to knaw on Roscoe, which Roscoe didn't appreciate very much.

VA Beach 2008
Well, we survived our first vacation as a family of four. No one else got pink eye, Colin touched the water with his toes, and not a single sunburn.
Colin digging in the sand. He absolutely loved it, and I don't think he has ever been so dirty or sandy in his life!
Colin's handstand that he learned from cousin Zach on the 4th of July. He looked so cute!
Family photo on the beach. We were able to grab Colin and hold him for 2 seconds before he was off and running again.
Colin sitting on one of the many sand piles. He was fearless with the sand. Many times he ran and jumped into holes people had built. One time he dove headfirst in and we found him about 4 feet down saying "Colin ok, I'm all right".

Kristen has Pink Eye
How is it possible that I can come down with pink eye, (1) 1 day before we leave for vacation, and (2) without getting it from either of the boys?
Well....it happened, not sure how, but I have it. It's mostly in the left eye, but it mysteriously traveled over to the right last night and I'm starting to see the same symptoms there. Fortunately I diagnosed myself on web.md and went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and got medicine. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that neither of the kids got it and today is the worst of it.
We'll have lots of pictures when we get back.....I hope you don't mind if I keep my sunglasses on for all of them :)

Colin and Sawyer's Toys
As anyone with 2 kids knows, all toys, regardless of age, size, etc. belongs to the older child. As an oldest child I can say this as a fact, it is mine until I lose interest...period. So, it comes as no surprise that Colin has showed renewed interest in Sawyer's baby toys. Case in point are the below pictures:

Colin is sucking on a pacifier (which we are trying to quit cold turkey), sitting in the bebe pod seat (which is for babies when they can't sit up unassisted), playing with the table toy (which teaches babies to stand up).
Second example is the car excersauser seat that was at Gen and Tim's house, which we visited over the weekend. Sawyer loved that it was on wheels and was scooting himself all over the place. We finally had to take him out because I was concerned about him putting a hole in the paper lamp which is behind him in the picture.

Now here is Colin also enjoying the seat. He spent most of the night in it, partly because he liked it but also partly because he was stuck in it. I wish we had gotten a picture of him scooting around in it....his knees were rubbing against the floor.

Swimming in Arlington

On Saturday evening we went over to our friends Tim, Gen, and John, for a BBQ. We first went swimming in their community pool. Colin loved the baby pool (it went up to his waist) and he was fearless running around in the pool, jumping up and down, and swimming on his belly.

This was Sawyer's first time swimming. I'll have to find a picture of Colin in the exact same swimming outfit in 2006 and post it later. Sawyer was very relaxed in the pool (it probably helped that the water was around 85 degrees). He loved sitting and watching Colin run around and baby John splashing. Sawyer even began splashing after a few minutes.

The pool had a mini-boogey board that Colin loved. Here he is trying to "borrow" it from baby John. Gen pushed John all the way across the pool on the board....I think they have a little surfer on their hands!

Not very many posts recently
Sorry I have been updating the blog. I think I let Colin play with our digital camera one to many times, so it pretty much crapped out about a week ago. We have been busy with potty training (or trying to potty train) and just going about our daily routine. Colin has been enjoying all the different summer camps and shows that are provided at his daycare. He talks up a storm and has no fear (which we learned two nights ago when he built a tower of boxes and decided to climb it, knowing it was going to fall over). This weekend we will be home and I will start prepping for our first family vacation to the beach. We are all excited about visiting VA Beach; a close family friend is letting us borrow his beach house for 4 days and we can't wait. We will definitely have lots of pictures to post afterwards.

Random Pictures

Daddy feeding Sawyer. He is finally starting to enjoy his vegetables and fruit. His favorites are carrots and pears.
Daddy and Sawyer napping early one weekend morning. Not sure why Sawyer is wrapped in a towel, I guess the bottle got a little messy. They were both passed out when I took this picture.

Andrew came over to play one evening. We decided to get the pool out for the boys, but I was lazy and didn't put swimming diapers on them. They had a great time pushing the bulldozers around the pool and jumping in and out. This was after Andrew sliced Colin's forhead with a shovel. It was a total accident, but poor Colin, he can't go a day without something happening to his face. Maybe it's the Geiselman head....he just can't get it out of the way fast enough :)

July 4th Weekend
We drove up to York for the annual July 4th family pool party at Brenda and Mike's. Colin & Sawyer had a lot of fun hanging out with their cousins. Colin especially loved having a gymnastics competition with Zach.
While the kids were trying to see fireworks through the fog, Colin and Donnie ate some popcorn in the living room (sorry about the crumbs Grandma GG). It rained all day on the 4th, but the weather held off on the 5th for the pool party.

Colin loved running after everybody with the squirt gun and survived falling into the pool by accident (luckily Dustin was right there to grab him out). Hopefully next year he will be ready to go into the pool by himself.

Of course, knowing Colin, the highlight of the weekend was sitting on Mike's tractor (but only when it wasn't running). Happy 4th of July!

Colin & the Potty, Part ?
This morning Dustin went upstairs to get Colin ready for school. He opened the door to find poop on the carpet and Colin without a diaper on. Apparently, Colin decided to take his diaper off, put it in the diaper genie, and then poop on the floor right in front of the door. Then, while Dustin was busy cleaning it up, Colin walks into the bathroom and pees in his potty. Fortunately I missed all of this as I was in the shower getting ready for work. Colin was very proud of himself when I came upstairs though.
So, at the same time we are scolding him for pooping on the floor, we are trying to praise him for peeing in the potty. Ahhh, the fun times of potty training. We aren't sure what to do at this point. We aren't setting up a potty in his room. And we learned last week that we can't leave his door open overnight so he could go use the potty. (Last Friday I left it cracked so he could come downstairs by himself when he woke up. Well, he woke up at 4:45 AM and decided it would be fun to go wake Sawyer up at the same time. That was the last time we cracked his door).
Today Colin starts soccer camp at school. I'm sure it is going to be hilarious. Kids between the ages of 2 1/2 and 4 trying to play organized soccer. Happy 4th of July!
